Kill Devil Hills Shows / Andrew Morris CD Launch
Ladies and gentlemen and all those in between. The next fortnight is surely shaping up as a cracker for Bris-Vegas alt-country fans. First off the rank, our favourite fellas and Texas Holdem poker adversaries, The Kill Devil Hills are in town this week, god love em. (Didn’t you notice the sun was brighter this morning?) They’ve been aching to pay us back since we drank them under the table in their own territory back in June, and we’re delighted to be playing with them this week as part of their national album tour. Shows include Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd at The Troubadour (where else), and the Hotel Great Northern in Byron on Sunday 5/11/06. I’m gonna have a sickie on Monday methinks.
Much better looking (and also equally capable of scotch consumption) is our good friend Andrew Morris (aka Moz, The Mozz, Mozzerella, the Mozman et al). For those of you in the know, Moz has just released his sophomore album, Valleys, and the good man has invited us to support him at his launch on the 11th November. (Actually, it could also be that as we share two band members, he just wants to make sure they turn up on time… meditate on that I shall).
In any instance, its gonna be awesome. I already have a story from one punter who threw down his Pearl Jam tickets and cried “To hell with you, Vedder, I’m going to see the Club and Andrew Morris”.
Cos you gotta have goals.
Farewell to The Fella
One last piece of news. I’ve been holding off on this just in case it was a bad dream, but over the next fortnight (he wont tell us when yet), we say farewell to Mr Adrian Stoyles (aka The Fella, Aggro, Mr Stoyles). Despite having been tied down and tortured with Columbian dung beetles, Mr Stoyles is unrelenting, and is soon heading off for sunny Melbourne to pursue a career in international investment bonds and insider trading.
As the covenant of the Gin Club edicts, you can never truly leave, and you can be rest assured The Fella will be back in Bris-Vegas for future recordings and tours, plus the odd punch up.
But for the shows that he may not be around for in the near future, I say only this; ‘We’re gonna miss you Fella’.
Tears and beers,
The Gin Club

Q-Music Awards - Let's Hear It For Salty
The Gin Club's intrepid front-man and conductor, Mr Ben Salter, took out the inaugural Q-Music Award in the Blues/Roots category for 'Honey Don't'. Featuring Salter's trademark finger-picking prowess and aching strings composed and arranged by fellow Gin Clubber Scott Regan, the song is a standout on The Gin Club's sophomore album, Fear of the Sea, released in November 2005.

Holly Throsby Shows + ALL AGES Gigs This Month
Ahoy Hoy!
A very quick mailout this week, as we’re all busy packing our bags (and the combat vehicle) with gear. This week we’re off to Northern NSW again, supporting Holly Throsby! Tonight (7/9/06) we’ll be back at The Plantation Hotel, Coffs Harbour for the first time since our inaugural tour in 2004! Saturday we’ll be at the Bryon Bay Community Centre (again with Ms Throsby), which, coincidentally, is in Bryon Bay.
The Gin Club are also happy to announce a string of ALL AGES Shows (‘Hello, Little Ones!’) coming up in September. Dates include GC2 at the Brisbane Botanical Gardens, and Gin Club acoustic mode at the Powerhouse (both 17/9), GC8 full band at the Queen Street Mall (22/9) and at The Groove & Grape, Treasury Casino (23/9).
So mums and dads, ever wanted to go a Ginners show, but can’t? Well, now there’s no excuse. Pack up the young’uns and throw down with the Gin Club this September!
Love,
Fairweather

Western Australia
‘Rock
Vs Roots’ Tour
Ahoy Hoy, beloved subscribers. As I write, we’re packing our duffle bags and are about to set sail for the far shores of Western Australia, for what has been dubbed the ‘Rock Vs Roots’ Tour. The tour see The Gin Club and our Plus 1 label-mates; Giants of Science, trekking off to the brave world for a collaborative tour with WA counterparts, The Kill Devil Hills and The Fuzz.
The tour includes shows in Fremantle, Newport, Scarborough, Mandurah, Margaret River, and Bunbury. Our intrepid scout, Scotty ‘Scooter’ Regan has been dispatched early to Perth to establish a beachhead, after being marooned in Adelaide by his ‘other’ dalliance, Mr Andrew Morris, for stealing all the women on their tour and dancing to 80’s music with Jen Cloher.
The two questions everyone wants the answer to, is (a) can the Ginners get more people on stage at one time than the Kill Devil Hills? And (b) Will Adrian ‘Agro’ Stoyles take them all on at once in a game of slapsies. My money is on ‘the ‘gro’.
In other news, after spending the last few months all around this great country of ours, please join us at Ric’s (Brisbane) on the 30th June, for a special ‘Gin Club & Friends’ night, featuring special guest appearances from former members, non-voting associates, ex-girlfriends, and a variety of other pirate scum. It’s been a long time between drinks, and we’re really looking forward to it. It’s a Friday night, so please come along and get drunk with us.
Lastly, big thanks and hooroo to Youth Group for having us along on their recent tour, and to those of you that complimented us on our suits. I don’t think Wylde Bitch is gonna quite make it on the OC just yet, but hey… you gotta have goals.
Check out the dates below or via the website for further details.
Sincerely
The Gin Club

Sydney & Melbourne
Tour Dates
A short note to our southern friends… The Gin Club is touring again, supporting our good friends, Youth Group, for a some shows in Sydney and Melbourne. From memory, these shows are already sold out, so mentioning them is rather gratuitous. However, we are also doing some other shows with our long-time touring buddies, Theredsunband, in Wollongong on Wed 24/5 and the Hopetoun on Friday 26/5. We’d love you all to come along so that we can gloat about how we smashed you in the State of Origin.
And even though you Melburnians care not for Rugby League, we’ll also be doing some extra shows in Melbourne as part of the tour, including the Labour in Vain, Melbourne Town Hall, Manchester Lane and The Green Room.
Check out the dates below or via the website for further details.
Looking forward to catching up with you all again…
Kind Regards

The
Twilight of Our Youth…
Hi everyone. Lots to report this month. Due to us being a little bit busy (and a little bit slack), it’s been a while since our last mailout. But as always, we seem to get our shit together at the last minute and try to appear organised. We’ve recently consolidated our Mailing Lists, so for some of you this may be the first mailout you’ve received from us. If so, welcome aboard, and a sincere thanks from all of us for subscribing.
But I digress… on to business.
Firstly, the official Gin Club website has been updated! Forget the miners, this is a real miracle. At www.theginclub.com.au this month, you will be able to find:
New updated photos
in Fairweather’s Sea Diary, including our December tour with Tim
Rogers & The Temperance Union, the Fear of the Sea Album Launch at
the Rev, our recent visit to Canada for Canadian Music Week, and
some general photos of us carrying on like pork chops as usual. And
for those of you (and you know who you are) who’ve been whinging
that you can’t click on them and blow them up into larger viewing
windows… well now you bloody can. I hope you appreciate it, we were
up to midnight trying to figure that bit out…
Return of the Gin Club Message Board & Forum!
Yes
folks, specifically designed for the four of you out there that
aren’t on MySpace, you can once again visit the Message Board and
leave abusive messages and death threats to your favourite Gin Club
member (or even collectively to the band to save time) on here.
Yeehah Grandma.
The Booty Page (Merchandise) –
Is still completely empty. We’re actually in the process of coming
up with some new shirt designs since we sold out of our last batch.
If anyone has any good ideas (And I mean ‘good’), please send em on
through.
Gin Club @ MySpace!
Some of you may or may not be aware, The Gin Club is also on MySpace,
along with every other man and his dog. So if you’re that way
inclined, please look us up and say hello.
Last Month, we got to go back down to Melbourne again and play some shows. We’d like to thank our friends The Spoils, Dave Larkin from Dallas Crane, The Casanovas, Brendan Welch, Dick Desert, Clinkerfield, our tour manager Brent for being so anally retentive, Al at the Green Room for putting up with us, and of course a big thank-you to everyone to came along to the shows.
And…!
This month, we’re especially chuffed to be touring with our good friends Youth Group, kicking off at The Troubadour this Thursday 11/5/06, and moving on to Sydney and Melbourne later in the month. Check out the dates below for further details. We’re also going to be doing some additional shows in both Sydney and Melbourne, so for those of you south of the border, please come along a share a few brews with us.
Lastly, we’d also like to give a big ‘word up’ to our dearest friends and band-mates Bridget and Ola, whom are still languishing in Europe somewhere. Bridget was last seen buried under a 200 tonne mound of legal assignment rubble. And, Ola… well… we can only hope that he gets out on parole in time for the next album recording. Miss you guys.
Love,

We're Back, Baby
Howdy-ho everyone! Well, we're back from our little jaunt over to Canada. Firstly, a big thanks to everyone who come to the Plus 1 Fundraiser night and helped us out in getting over there. We hope you all had a good night.
Things we learnt in Canada:
- It's cold
- You can just as drunk in a Dodgy Irish bar in Canada, as you can anywhere else
- Walking home drunk without your scarf and gloves is equivalent to suicide... 'all my glovin, i will send to you...'
- The term 'cougars' in reference to middle-age women, is a derogatory term in Canada
- 'Curling', whilst having a novelty effect at first, is boring as batsh*t and loses its appeal after 13 hours of continuous viewing
- It's cold
- Different voltages - You can't just rock up and plug your keyboard in
- Adrian Stoyles is the dirtiest player of 'Slapsies' and 'Knuckles' in the entire universe
- Leaving your left-over take-away curry outside the back door overnight, does not qualify as refrigeration
- Brisbane, for all its foibles, is still the best city in the world
- It's cold
We have to also thank our touring buddies, Giants of Science and Iron On (both of whom ripped it up over there), and also to Women in Docs and Brindle for the moral support (and supplies of Peter Stuyvesants - Thanks Craig),Murray ‘McGuyver’ Paas, for fixing everything that’s wrong with the world, and of course, Plus 1 Records and their credit cards for making it all possible. We should have some new entries in the Sea Diary, which should be up today or tomorrow for your viewing pleasure.
Now, to business. Friday night, (17/3/06), we'll be supporting Mexico City for their debut CD Launch at The Rev. After countless supports for us, its about time we pulled our fingers out and returned the favour. The 'MC4' are all fine upstanding men, and play some mean country blues/rock. They can also drink a lot of beer. Please come along and join us for some tears and beers at The Rev this Friday.
For those of you down south, we all also be heading down to Melbourne for some shows between the 29/3 and 2/4, including shows at The Evelyn, The Spanish Club and The Tote. Check out the Gigs page (Disembarkations) for more details.
Love always,
The Gin Club

Canada Bound…
Ahoy Hoy,
Lots of stuff to get through this week. Firstly, thanks to everyone who voted for us in the Triple J Hottest Wolfmother 100 throughout January. We didn’t make it, and I guess it’s the thought that counts (as in ‘Well, I thought about voting for you, but decided not to, cos you were crap’).
Anyway, moving on, as you do… March sees us off to Canadian Music Week, which ironically is held in Canada. Toronto to be precise. So, this month we’re gonna be gigging like crazy to get ourselves over the line and onto the plane.
Starting this week, Wednesday 1/2, The Gin Club will be performing in ‘Han Solo’ Mode at the Troubadour. It’s been a while since we did a solo show, and will you all a chance to check out some new stuff, or some of the old stuff the way it was originally intended. God, what a wank. Please come along.
Saturday, a history making show, The Gin Club and the Giants of Science performing together for the first time, all happening at the Sol Bar at Coolum. Please come along.
Sunday, we’re back at the Troubadour again, this time in full band mode, supporting CWQ from Melbourne. Please come along.
Coming up later in the month, we’ve got some shows in Melbourne once again, and then of course, the Big One. IE, the PLUS 1 Records Canada Fundraiser, being held at the Rev, featuring Intercooler, Giants of Science, The Gin Club, Iron On, and DJing by The Little Lovers. Tickets are available now from Skinny’s Music! You’re last chance to see the Club before we depart to Canada!
Love to all,
The Gin Club

Tales & Wheels, And Ships and Keels
G'day everyone! Well we've reached the mid-point of our tour with Tim Rogers & The Temperance Union, and its been a blast.
Highlights include:
- Conning the management of the Sheraton on the Park that we were there
for the Michelle Leslie press conference, and then managing to hang around
for a few more days without being ejected;
- Maxing out on Chicken Schnitzel
- Shane O'Mara's Team America quoting, both on and off stage
- Watching 'Commando' over and over again, and saying things like 'Let off
some steam, Bennett'
Ok, so those were my highlights, I can't talk for the others, but I do, so I am.
- But most importantly, getting to play with Tim and the TU EVERY NIGHT OF
THE WEEK. Truly, this good ship Gin Club is blessed.
But, tis not the really reason for the update. MELBOURNE PEOPLE: For those of you that have repeated emailed us with scornful comments about how we aren't doing our own show in Melbourne... well we bloody are. TONIGHT. AT THE EVELYN. The entry is a gold coin donation. Yes folks, all we require is some of your hard-earned shrapnel, and your dancing shoes for what should be a whole lotta fun.
REMEMBER:
1. THE EVELYN!
2. FROM SEVEN!
More news to come. And yes, yes... the website is coming along... slowly.

Another Year... Another Launch
Well folks, as the title suggests, another year, another successful CD launch. Thank you to everybody who attended the launch of the Gabriel + Drugflowers EP at The Troubadour last week. We can't express what a pleasure it was to play to such a great crowd. What was even more amazing was the ability of the Club to maintain control of all their faculties and keep it together to send the esteemed Miss B Lewis off a winner. We're going to miss you Bridge. Come back soon.
We'd also like to thank The Troubadour Crew, Marty on the sound, Trav 'The Merch Man' and Roadie, theredsunband and Mexico City for supporting us on the night, and whoever made the fried chicken nibblies earlier in the night! Buck-buck-begurk eat your heart out.
Don't forget to vote for Gabriel (if you're a saint) or Drugflowers (sinner) on Triple J. DO IT NOW!
Now that we've got all that out of the way, we have more news. The Gin Club are honoured to be supporting Kevin Montgomery (The Mavericks) for the Brisbane leg of his Australian Tour, at The Troubadour (who could get sick of that place), onMonday 29/8/05! Please come along, it should be special night.
Here is a Press Release! (Courtesy of Mr S Regan... the Puppet Master).
www.theginclub.com.au
Request The Gin Club on Triple J
Kevin Montgomery's music is strongly influenced by the 'California Country-Rock' of artists like Gram Parsons, The Eagles, and Roger McGuinn, with the Americana-flavoured storytelling of Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne.
Though his music may be comparative to these great artists, Kevin's songwriting is extremely well-crafted, thoughtful, emotive and heartfelt in its own right.
Kevin grew up on Nashville's Music Row as a child of parents whose careers crossed from country music over to the early, seminal days of American Rock'n'Roll. His father, Bob Montgomery was an early songwriting and collaborative partner of Buddy Holly moving on to produce records by Bobby Goldsboro and writing songs like 'Misty Blue' and 'Back in Baby's Arms' made famous by Patsy Cline. Meanwhile, Kevin's mother Carol had a thriving career as a Nashville session vocalist, having sung back up on pop classics like Elvis Presley's 'Suspicious Minds' and Robert Knight's 'Everlasting Love'.
"I'm bringing Paul Deakin from The Mavericks, Danny White from Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, and Mike McAdam originally of Steve Earle and the Dukes," Kevin said.
"It should be a rocking show, and we are all excited about the tour," he said.

Gabriel + Drugflowers EP Launch!
Come one and all, to the spiritual birthplace of The Gin Club, The Troubadour, for our grand EP Launch next Tuesday 16/8/05!
You've heard it all before, but I'm reiterating it to ensure it has sunk in properly.
Helping us out on the night will be our dear friends theredsunband and Mexico City! Plus for your aural pleasure after the show will be a special appearance by The Fatal Four... perfect mingling music as we drink the night into oblivion and forget the sins of the past year. Who would have thought we'd still be around ("Holy shit... they're still alive...").

EP Launch + Home & Hosed
After a couple of weeks which saw The Gin Club splintered in all directions (apparantly an argument about who had the most perculiar mental disease started the rot), it seems we've finally managed to get our collective arses into gear.
To show off our newfound professionalism, I've decided to number my paragraphs, for easy reference:
1. Firstly and foremostly (sp?),The Gin Club are proud to annouce the release andlaunchof our upcoming EP'Gabriel + Drug Flowers'. The EP will feature both tracks as some sort of double A-Side thing (when last I checked I think that's how we're describing it, cos they both rule).
2. And then for all you Live Gurus out there (the act of seeing a band play in real time, not those god-bothering, haven't-had-a-good-album-since-Throwing-Copperfools - Sorry Bronagh), you'll you'll be happy to hear the bonus 4 live tracks from our Home & Hosed performance are also tacked on to the EP.
3. We'll be launching said EP (1 & 2 above) at The Troubadour on Tuesday 16th August (it's Ekka Holiday night - no excuses), with our Sydney friends, theredsunband, and local drunkards and heart-throbs Mexico City (aren't they dreamy girls?).Rounding out the night will be a very special performance by your favourite band and ours The Fatal Four.Tickets are avilable from Skinny's Music - GO BUY ONE NOW. And for all you Bridget Lewis fans out there (you know who you all are), you have to come to this show, because it will be Miss Lewis's last in a Gin Club uniform for some time before departing to sunny, peace-loving England for 12 months. ("Stupid, stupid Gin Club...I'm leaving" she was rumoured to have muttered whilst purchasing her plane tickets).
4. Lastly, further to point 2 above, you can get a bit of a preview of the live tracks by tuning in to Triple J's Home & Hosed tonight from 9pm for a Special Gin Club Feature. (Thanks Robbie & Linda).

'Gabriel + Drugflowers' EP Launch!
Well folks, its that time of year again, where August arrives, the days are windy in Brisbane, the Royal Show comes to town, and The Gin Club release another CD. Yes, brothers and sisters, almost a year to the day since the last launch, The Gin Club will launch their EP 'Gabriel + Drugflowers' at The Troubadour on 16/8/05, supported by our southern friends theredsunband, and fellow Brisbane alt-country blues rock band, Mexico City! Tickets are available from Skinny's Music!
This week sees the Club splinter across the landscape, with Ben, Ben & Aggro in Sydney to continue their 'Here Is the Punishment' Tour with Giants of Science. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Scott Regan will be doing some hot Golden Spurs action, Dale will be doing likewise with Seaplane, and Conor, Bridget and BP will be holding down the fort at the Broadway on Friday night, with Special Guests Jacob Harris and Chris Pickering. So get out there and support your local Gin Club member. We all have expensive drug and alcohol habits to support.

Viva La Gin Club!
Well, who would have thunk that it's Valley Fiesta time again... already. There's just so much happening, that I don't have time to prattle on with some meaningless diatribe, I'm just going to get straight into it.
It would be remiss of me not to mention this Friday night sees one of the more anticipated events on our local scene for quite a while, with the Giants of Science launching their new CD 'Here is the Punishment' at The Rev. Already featuring Ben Salter and Benjamin Tuite from our esteemed ranks, the GoS have also called on the genius of Mr Adrian Stoyles on guitar/keys to finally make themselves sound even better than they already are, so get down there and check it out.
Saturday sees The Gin Club once again in lovely Byron Bay supporting Mr Tim Rogers in what should be a nice intimate acoustic affair at The Great Northern (um... thanks for having us back again guys ... lovely people they are).
Sunday, Valley Fiesta! The Gin Club appear on the Valley Mall Stage at 1:45pm! Don't be late! Don't ever be late!
Next week: More news on Youth Group, Brisbane Folk Festival and our upcoming CD Launch :O !!!
There we go. Short and sweet. Just like Conor Macdonald.

We Love This City
Well, what can we say. Having been off on another jaunt down south, words can't describe how good it is to come back to the best city in the world... Bris Vegas. "I love this town", The Trainwreck was heard to say as the tour bus rumbled down Coronation Drive. Another highlight for The Gin Club... the first tour which did not result in a parking ticket, speeding fine, loss of license, or damaged hire-van. Tremendous effort, team.
Right off the bat, it must be declared that the Cockatoo Island Festival was our bestest gig ever. A great crowd, great venue (look out for the Ben Salter-created 3D Shooter Multi-player Game 'CockaDoom' with Cockatoo Island maps. It's a sure thing). The highlight of the weekend was the entire room 'getting flat' with The Gin Club, and a song dedication from Mr Rogers later that night. It doesn't get any better kids.
We'd like to thank everyone who came to see us at the Festival, and also at The Hopetoun. Fear not Sydneyites, The Gin Club will be returning to your shores in late April supporting the one and only Tim Rogers at The Spectrum. Check out the gig guide for the dates.
We'd also like to thank Rusty for letting us use his kit, The Andrew Morris Band for their love and support during the weekend, Theredsunband for putting us all up for duration and enduring our singalongs, and Deano's Diner for their foot-long hot-dogs.
Coming Up...! This Friday 8/4/05, The Gin Club will be supporting Dan Brodie at The Zoo, followed up next week with supports for our best friends ever, theredsunband, at The Troubadour and The Great Northern (Byron Bay). If anyone has not seen theredsunners yet, do yourself a favour a get to a show. They rule.
Finally... WE HAVE MULTIMEDIA! Check out the 'Gin Music' Page to download our video clips for Old Hat and You Don't See. You can also download soundbytes from each album track... for those of you out there that have yet to see the light and buy our album. Enjoy!
See you at the mo-fo gig.

Chalk it Up, 'Mo-Fo's
Ahoy-hoy everyone.
The Gin Club are celebrating their triumphant return to Brisbane after the successful completion of their Wylde Bitch Tour of Melbourne last week. We'll be celebrating in fine style at Ric's once again on Thursday 24/2.
On that note, we'd like to pay our thanks to everyone who came to see us play in Melbourne. We had an absolute ball, and we will be making our way down that way again soon. Special mention to our Number 1 Melbourne Fan, Shelley, who not only came to every Gin Club gig, but was also taught how to drink Gin & Tonic (with lemon), the Gin Club way. Good on ye, Shell. Thanks also to our good friends, theredsunband, who made the fatal error of judgement in allowing us to crash at their place on the voyage home. We love you guys.
To those of you in Sydney... fear not. We will hopefully have some news regarding some NSW shows to coincide with the Cockatoo Island Festival in March. Stay tuned.
On the Brisbane front, The Gin Club is pleased as punch to be supporting Lambchop (alt-country exponents from Nashville, not the puppet) at The Zoo, on 9/3/05. "Full O' Beans" would be an appropriate way to describe how excited we are about that
Well... must away... see you around the traps. Stay tuned for more news.

February Lovin' is the Best Kind of Lovin'
Howdy all. As you can see, the Gin Club's alcohol-soaked cupid arrow has well and truly hit its mark in February. That will be my only attempt at humour in this post, under threat of slow agonising death. So much to report, and so little time... and so, in no particular order:
The Gin Club return to Ric's for a couple of Thursday night performances this month, all in preparation for their debut Melbourne tour. 'The Wylde Bitch Tour' will see The Gin Club stagger their way through various southern venues with their perrenial drinking buddies and fellow Bris-Vegas band, Mexico City. We're looking forward to meeting all of our 'friends in waiting' down south, so make sure you get a posse together and get to one of the dates listed. Don't say we didn't warn you we were coming!
In local events, The Gin Club will be supporting The Devoted Few at the Zoo on 11/2, with St Andrew's Fall. In addition to the above, The Gin Club will be featuring at The Troubadour on 12/2 for 'A Night of The Horse' (Neil Young Tribute Night) also featuring Andrew Morris & Mexico City.
Lastly, The Gin Club will also be featuring at this years Cockatoo Island Festival during the Easter Long Weekend. Stay tuned for more detailed as they come to light.
Apologies for the brevity of this update... but be sure to keep your ear to the ground for more news in the next week... but either way, get down to one of the above mentioned gigs and buy us booze, by all means.

Yuletide Madness
Well... another year of yuletide madness has come and gone, and The Gin Club are kicking off the New Year in fine style with a return to their birthplace and spiritual shrine, The Troubadour on Friday night 21/1. The Governor has the bar freshly stocked with Tanqueray in preparation for what will be a memorable night of melancholy. All wretched drunks are urged to put on theirsad faces and get to the Troubabour to see the Club troll through their catalogue from their self-titled album and abunch of new songs which will hopefully put a warm glow down there in 'the bottom of your rotten gut' as Tim Rogers would say.
Obligatory thank-yous... cheers and beers to everyone who came along to the Xmas Hoedown at the Zoo on the 23/12/04... it was 'the best gig ever' according to The Trainwreck, a big call, given hehasbeen running at express speed and stopping all stationsover the last few weeks. Thanks to Halfway and Mexico City for a great show.
Some Gin Club solo action again this month, with the esteemed Mr Ben P Salter and The Salty Sea Dogs appearing at Ric's on Mondays through January. (Yes, i know it's already half-way through Jan butI've got excuses dammit). Also getting amongst the Spoils(*) is the lovable Conor Macdonald, full of beans and other concoctions, he'll be peddling his wares at the Troubadour onTuesday, 1 Feb. Don't miss it.
For those in Mexico, stay tuned in thecoming weeks for details of some Melbourne gigs in late February. Should be grande.

(*) Conor hasn't actually been getting amongst the band The
Spoils... that would be unethical (**)

Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Gin
Ahoy hoy everyone. Firstly, apologies for the extended time its been between newsletters. Rest assured, Fairweather Johnson has been fully reprimanded for his slackness.
Looking for something to do tonight? Don't feel like X-mas shopping, or even feeling happy for that matter? Get down to the Zoo for probably the most country-ish Christmas in the history of the world... The Gin Club, Halfway, and Mexico City will be hoeing it down tonight from 9pm. There is even rumour of some other band-esque surprises as the night progresses. Even Declan 'Buffalo Soldier' Rooney will be there.
Thanks to everyone who turned up at Ric's this month as part of our December residency. If you partook of too much alcohol you may have noticed that Fairweather Johnson had become decidedly more good-looking (if that's even possible), had 10 times the amount of charm, lost 5kg's and was all of a sudden capable of using the entire fretboard and signing harmonies. The world is not ending, 'tis merely Dale 'I Can't Believe It's Not Brad' Dollarbar, filling in for the maternally challenged Mr Johnson. The bad news for Dale is, 'once your in... you stay in'. Say goodbye to your family and friends Dale.
XMAS PARTY! A thousands thank-yous to everyone who attended the great Inaugural Gin Club X-Mas Party & Revue held last Saturday Night. The night included special performances by Screamfeeder, Giants & Science, Mexico City, Dollar Bar, and the Gin Club themselves... at least until the constabulary arrived. Special thanks to all the bands that performed. Other lowlights of the evening included broken noses (accidents will happen), lots of sweet love, and of course the consumption of excessive amounts of alcohol.
Well... it's been a great year. We've had lots of fun and gotten drunk with lots of great people... at the risk of forgetting someone, we'd like to pass special thanks to the Troubadour, Ric's, The Bowery, The Zoo, everywhere we've played this year, Skinny's, Rocking Horse, Simon Homer, Rusty, Tim, theredsunband, and of course everyone who's come to see us play during 2004.

Gin Club Day, Mini-Tours
Howdy all. Lots of things happening in the world of gin this week.
Today (Friday 5/11/04), The Gin Club is featured on Triple J as the 'Next Crop' artist of the day as part of Ausmusic month, which is very exciting. They've even done a nice little page about us, check it out here.
Whilst on radio related items, don't forget you can also request 'Old Hat' on Triple J here. You know you want to.
Whilst on 'Old Hat' related items, filming for the 'Old Hat' video clip was recently completed and The Grandmaster of All Things, (aka Mr Scott Regan) is putting the finishing touches on the video as we speak. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for what will no doubt be 'the best music video ever'.
In other news, special thanks to everyone who arrived early at the You Am I gig last Thursday to see The Club ply their alcoholic trade at The Zoo. We had fun, and it was great to see so many people there so early. 'Preciated.
This week sees The Gin Club kicking off the week at The Bowery on Sunday night, followed by our first venture from the mean streets of Brisbane to the picturesque land of Northern NSW, supporting theredsunband. So anyone in the Byron, Coffs , or Gold Coast area needing some love, come along and have a beer or ten with us at The Great Northern, Plantation, or Troccederro next week. We have plenty to give (well... Salter does anyway).
Till next time,
Lots of Love

Folktoberfest Rolls On
Word. Folktoberfest reached fever pitch on Sunday. While
Brisbane sweltered, The Gin Club toasted the arrival of the wet
season with another night at The Bowery. Unfortunately,
the Drum-master Regan expired from heat exhaustion earlier in
the day and couldn't make it due to his untimely death (*).
Thankfully, the human beat-box, Mr Conor Macdonald stepped up to
the plate. Michael Winslow (of Police Academy fame), who
happened to be holidaying in OZ and patroning the venue was
suitably impressed. "We ain't found sh*t' he was
heard to mumble between sips of his daiquiri.
This week...! The Gin Club will be supporting You Am I at the Zoo, (+ The Daybridges) this Thursday 28/10/04.
Will Mr Regan rise from the dead in time to play with his idol, Mr Tim Rogers? Hang on... that sounds really bad. Sorry, Scott.
Heat stroke must have set in at the Bowery... the lovely lads and lasses have asked us back for another month of Sunday's in November. This means there is no longer any excuse for you slack bastards out there that haven't yet partaken in our Sunday Sessions.
November Tour: For those of you south of the border (or close enough to same), The Gin Club will be performing a series of dates in support of theredsunband between the 10-12 November. Dates include Byron Bay (10/11), Coffs Harbour (11/11) and Gold Coast (12/11).
Lastly, special thanks to everyone who supported Ben Salter & His Many Enemies during Happy Trail's Monday madness in October at Ric's. The Enemies Team included Herr Artiste, Sam Regan, Aggro, Fairweather Johnson, Winter (Little Lovers), and Dale (Dollar Bar)... and personally guys... I reckon we kicked his arse. Also thanks to Jo from brispop.com for her continued support.
Till next time... behave.
* No Scott Regans were harmed in the making of this promotion(**).
** Yes, I have run out of material.

Resident Evil
Firstly, thanks to everyone who came early to the Iron & Wine show last Friday to see us play. How good were I&W? Sorry to those poor punters who were eyeing off their set list, only to see it nabbed by the uncouth Mr Johnson.
This week, The Gin Club takes it back a notch to commence its Sunday residency at The Bowery from 9pm. For those of you that have not been to the Bowery, we suggest you come along and take a look at their impressive display of alcohol behind the bar... and discover why the Club intends to give new meaning to the term 'residency'.
The infamous Ben Salter continues his love affair with Ric's on Monday nights this month, with Conor Macdonald in support. Other misanthropes may also appear... you never know with these things.
Late News:
Some new gigs added to the gig diary this week... we're honoured to be
joining You Am I and the Daybridges at the Zoo on the 28/10/04.
Also, in other breaking news, The Gin Club will be breaking their juniper berries and embarking on their maiden tour in early November, supporting Theredsunband. Big thanks to the redsunners.
More details to be posted as they come to light...

GIN CLUB SELLS OUT
Ahoy all... The Gin Club would like to officially THANK ALL
OF YOU who attended the CD Launch at the Troubadour last
week. For those that missed it (and we know who you are),
the night was a gin-soaked success, with a sell out crowd and
awesome displays from all the bands. We'd especially like
to thank Mexico City, George's Bush and The Little Lovers,
who expertly wooed the crowd into drunkenness to ensure our
debaucheries went unpunished. Thanks to Deb & Craig
from Brindle
who handled the catering for the cocktail party with aplomb...
Also a special mention to The Aristos, who came with his
own specially designed Gin Club truckers cap... word up 'Stos.
And of course a special thanks to the Troubadour, without whom, the Gin Club
would probably not exist. Well, not in public anyway.
Coming up: Mr Ben Salter (aka Happy Trails, DJ VAL-E-Skum) will be holding the fort at Rics this Saturday night (following the mid-week noise restriction war... another story... check out www.ricsbar.com.au for that one). Next week, the Club are supporting The Spoils (Melbourne) + A Fleeting Glimpse at the Troub. Should be a great night.
For all the hordes of you out there that heard our post-launch display on Radio National from the Ekka last week, you'll be pleased (or afraid) to here a Central Qld Gin Club Tour has been mooted, and may eventuate some time within the coming months! Stay tuned!

A big thanks to everyone who turned out at Ric's last night for our Virginibus in July sets. A lovely night all round, made better by the arrival of our very own Sammy Regan's parents from Ireland.
Just a reminder to y'all that The Gin Club are honoured to be second-headliners for the 2nd Brisbane Folk Festival to be held at Hotel Broadway, Saturday 10/7/04. If last years inaugural festival is anything to go by, this year should even bigger and better. The Gin Club will be appearing around approximately 9pm on the main stage. We'd all love to see you there, so get your bodhran out of the cupboard, put on your slippers and dance ya &%$#@ers.

24/6/04
Update: In lieu of the Papa-M show tomorrow, The Gin Club will be hosting a 'Listening Party' of our debut album 'Virginibus Peurisque' to be held at the Troubadour between 6:00pm to 8:30pm Friday 25/6/04. The bar will be operational and serving free Gin Cocktails to the first 20 people through the door.
23/6/04
Unfortunately, we've just received word that the Papa-M tour has been postponed due to illness, and hence there will no show at the Zoo this Friday 25/6. The Gin Club would like to wish a big get-well-soon to the great man. Keep your ears to the ground for revised tour dates in the near future, but if you're dying for some more drunken debauchery, make sure you get down to Ric's for Wed 30/6/04 for our 'Virginibus in July' end of financial year hoe-down.
10/6/04
Newsflash from Ginwitness News: The Gin Club are honoured to be supporting the esteemed Papa-M at the Zoo for the Brisbane leg of their Australian Tour.
For those that enjoy (require) a few quiet ones on schoolnights, The Gin Club are also pleased to report we will back at Ric's on Wednesday 30/6/04 for the usual fun and games. "Bring friends, get drunk... or better still, bring drunk, get friends" Herr Artiste.
4/6/04
Some news from the world of gin. For those of you that care, Sammy Regan is hard at work mixing our debut CD, which was recorded in May at Brisbane's Airlock Studios... kudos to great guys at airlock who tolerated our debauchery for 12 hours straight.
On the gig front, we are having a small break for a couple of weeks while our livers disinfect themselves... however, the big news is that The Gin Club will be performing at the 2nd Brisbane Folk Festival (at the Hotel Broadway, 'Gabba) on the 10 July 04. Put it in your little black books people!
And for those of you that missed it, we had a most awesome night supporting Tim Rogers at the Troubadour for his solo showcase gig on 12 May. Big thanks to the Troubadour for their continued support, those of you that hung around after Tim's set and of course Tim himself for joining us on stage for a couple of Stone's covers... if you don't believe us, check out the photographic evidence on the Gin Gallery!
